Reflection

Journalism has been a big part of my life for three years now. It has introduced me to some of my closest friends and taught me several life lessons. It's a passion that I want to dedicate my time to for years to come.

Journalism is a powerful thing that can be used to change peoples lives, school policy, people's beliefs on things and change a community from a piece of writing or a photograph. It's something I have dreamed of since day one. I want to pursue journalism as a career and make a change in the world no matter how big or small.

I never thought that the things I wrote were of much importance until the first yearbook I worked on came out. Though I didn't write things that changed any school policy or made huge waves in the state. I wrote things that made people happy.

I covered the kids that normally wouldn't be covered. I went to their houses and heard their stories big or small. I went out of my way to make people feel comfortable in the interviewing process. I took pictures of kids doing things that they loved, whether it was their job, a hobby or a club they were involved in.

I think that if something makes someone happy it must be of some importance in their life. When other students said that they loved their picture or they thought it was cool they where in the yearbook it made me feel good and feel like maybe that made their day just a little bit better.

I hope with the things I've written this year not only can I make more people happy I produced things students will love years from now. I hope in the future when journalism is a part of my career I'll continue to produce things that make people happy.
