2018 - 2019 Yearbook Cover

The idea for this cover came from the two other co-editors-in-chiefs and I. The school is currently under construction that was started last school year. The projected finished date is not until seniors leave. Our school is literally somewhere between start and finish. While our student body is somewhere between childhood and adulthood. We were inspired by photos of the New York skyline with words weaving in and out of buildings. We decided to have somewhere in between in white to give it the weaving effect on the many strokes we put on the cover. We wanted more of a busy cover in comparison to the rest of the book to carry out more of a minimalist design elements in the book playing with text weaving and lots of strokes.

2018 - 2019 Yearbook End sheets

I was given the end sheets to work on for the book. I decided that since the cover was so busy to make the end sheets very clean and neat looking. I played with including photos on the end sheets and making different words weave with the strokes, but overall I decided to keep it clean. I liked the contrast it gave. The strokes and text are in their section colors that we use throughout the book.

Yearbook 2018 - 2019 Mods

We have a design library for the staff to use on their spreads full of mods and headlines. We allow anyone to use them on their spreads but its really just a starting point for the staffers. We encourage the staff to make their own in the same consistent style or modify them to fit on their spread. This helps first year staffers on their first deadlines and gives them a starting place to create their own. These are the mods I created this year. Most of them have several different variations in sizes in the design library. I used lots of small transparent strokes in the background of text and even added headlines weaving with one large stroke. (please excuse the goofy titles the editors try to name things goofy to make the staff laugh)

2018 - 2019 Yearbook Captions and Headlines

With this year really heavy with strokes and text play, I really wanted to keep the captions simple. In the past we have done caption heads with a background. I really liked the clean look in contrast to all the design elements we where playing with. The captions are just the caption headline in that sections swatch colors. The headlines are just like the mods, they are starting points for the staff to use and make their own. These are my two headlines this year, again playing with the strokes design element  and different variations with thick and thin font.

2017-2018 Yearbook Index:

Being asked to be the index editor was a daunting task. Not only did I have to manually go though each and every page and type out everyone's names and the businesses mentioned I also had to design the index and make the style similar to the rest of the book. I'm still proud of how the index turned out. The graphic element for this book was lots of geometric shapes. Each section had their own geometric shape. This shape was the index shape.

Note: I would like to note I apologize for the quality of pictures from 2017-2018. Our yearbook hard drive crashed while making this book. All of the spreads are now only available in the physical book.
